Denell (Witt) Dennis grew up in the piney woods of Hallsville, Texas. She graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1986. She married Kevin Dennis while attending ACU. They moved to the Dallas area where Kevin began working for Texas Instruments. (He’s been there now for more than 30 years!) Denell taught second grade in Wylie, Texas, until the birth of their first child, Robert, in 1990.
In 1995, when their second child, Jenny, was a year old, Texas Instruments moved the Dennis family to Japan for 3 months and then to the Philippines for 18 months. During this time, they began working with the Midtown Church of Christ in Baguio City, Philippines. This had a HUGE impact on their lives, and Denell began to see the fingerprints of God like never before. It was extremely rewarding to work with the Filipinos and their children. Kevin and Denell helped the congregation start a children’s program, which has now grown into a full-time private school. Denell began a Mommy and Me devotional time for stay-at-home mothers with young children. Their third child, Alli, was actually “made in the Philippines” (☺) and was born shortly after they returned to the states in 1997.
Kevin and Denell currently live in Garland, Texas, and worship with the Saturn Road Church of Christ. They have enjoyed watching their children grow up in the Lord. Robert graduated from Harding University in 2012. He is a software developer and go-to guy for all things tech. Robert and his wonderful wife, Logan, have a precious baby boy, Henderson Todd, who was born in January of 2016. Kevin and Denell adore being Henderson’s “DeeDee & Gramps.” Jenny graduated from Abilene Christian University in May of 2016 and now lives in Austin, TX. Alli is currently a sophomore at ACU, majoring in speech pathology, savoring every sip of college life.
Denell has extensive experience working in women’s ministry, filling many different roles. For the past fifteen years, Denell has co-taught a neighborhood Ladies’ Bible Study/Prayer Group. In addition, she’s enjoyed speaking at many ladies’ days, retreats, teacher workshops, and other special events for women including: Texas Women’s Empowerment Conference, Women of Hope Conference, Pepperdine University Bible Lectureship, National Ladies’ Retreat in the Philippines, and a ladies’ seminar in Ghana, Africa. She currently teaches a Thursday morning Bible Class for women at Christian Care Center in Mesquite, TX. Denell is the worship leader for Saturn Road Church of Christ’s Wednesday morning Ladies’ Bible Class. She has become known as the “Ladybug Lady” because of her Lady BUG Bible Study series for women.

Other tidbits? Denell enjoys cooking (if someone else cleans up!) and is a voracious reader. She adores going on dates with her husband. She loves chocolate of any shape, size, and quantity, preferably with a piping hot cup of coffee! But more than anything or anyone in this whole world, she wants to KNOW, to LOVE, and to BETTER UNDERSTAND her heavenly Father, His Son, and the Spirit of Truth. She has adopted the motto “Truth is Good Food.” Her heart’s desire is to listen to the Spirit’s nudges, be nourished daily with nutritious nuggets of Truth from God’s Word, and then share what she learns with others, reminding us all how Truth can set us free!
