I love talking with ladies mostly because I learn so much from all the love and experience that is found at a ladies’ retreat or ladies’ day.
Because of my work as a counselor in private practice, I have the opportunity to listen and help others with anxiety, grief, and depression on a consistent basis. Helping ladies recognize that they are not alone in Grief is often the first step in realizing their potential to work in the Lord’s Church even after experiencing the death of a loved one.
Loneliness, doubt, shame, and how to help those who are grieving is a topic that is often overlooked in a ladies day workshop, but I have found it to be a truly helpful topic. And, we make it a fun and joyful productive time together.
When we Doubt ourselves over our role in the Lord’s church or we often just don’t know how to get more involved, anxiety can set in. How we can free ourselves from the strongholds of anxiety is yet another topic that is common in the Lord’s church, especially with women. With plenty of immersive activities and getting to know each other more deeply, Christian ladies can become closer, more empathetic, and accepting of themselves and those around them.
I am a Licensed Counselor for the state of Alabama. I taught Language Arts at the secondary level for 12 years and loved every minute of it. I now work as a private practitioner in Florence, Alabama. I love to see clients reach the turning point and “A-ha!” moment when they see that change can happen in their lives, even though they either have experienced or are currently experiencing disappointment, loss, stress, etc. Since the death of my husband in 2010, my son and I have pieced our lives back together with the love and support of our family, friends, and valuable help from having received grief counseling.
And, speaking of my son, he is 15 years old, plays basketball, runs cross country, and loves getting out with his friends and playing a round of disc golf. I love a good cup of coffee, a nice Netflix series to binge-watch from time to time, rainy days, and reading books I’ve already read two or three times.
We have two cats (Leia & Ben), who sleep 22 hours a day. Sometimes, 23.
Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)
