Christina Joy Allen-Crowder has been a member of the Lord’s church since July 1990. She is a native of Texas City, Texas and was baptized at the Westward Street church of Christ after hearing one of her grandfather’s sermons. She worshiped there until 1994 when she moved to Austin, Texas to further her education. Christina united with the East Side Church of Christ in Austin and became active in joining the Students Serving Christ college ministry, teaching the Teen Girls’ Bible Class, working with the Singles’ Ministry, organizing and participating in the DYL (Distinguished Young Ladies) Mentoring program, and supporting My Brother’s Keeper (Benevolence) Ministry.

After relocating to the Houston area in 2004, Christina began worshiping again at the Westward Church of Christ in Texas City where she began her Christian journey. She played an instrumental part in starting a Singles’ Ministry (STARS – Singles Taking A Righteous Stand) there in 2005 and was also active with the Ladies’ Ministry and as a VBS teacher. Christina could be heard and seen at almost any church event sharing one of her spiritual poems, working in the kitchen and helping out wherever she could. She has worshiped at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ in Houston since 2009 and is active with the Employment and Greeters’ Ministry as well as the Ladies’ Ministry. Christina has previously spoken throughout Texas and in California, Delaware, Louisiana, and Mississippi at ladies and young ladies’ programs, singles’ workshops, the Southwestern Christian College Lectureship, and the National Christian Singles Seminar (NCSS). Christina holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Spanish and English from The University of Texas at Austin and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from The University of Texas School of Law. She has been active in several community and nonprofit organizations for many years including: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The University of Texas Alumni Network and Teens Interested in Community Activities. She has received numerous accolades including being named an “Unsung Hero” by the Galveston County Daily News and being named a “Martin Luther King Unsung Hero” by the Mainland United Task Force. She was honored as a Rising Star by the League of Women Voters in Houston and was the Iron Horse District Boy Scouts Community Partner of the Year. Christina was also selected as a 2008 Outstanding Young Texas Ex – an auspicious recognition bestowed upon University of Texas alumni age 40 and under who have become distinguished in their chosen career or life’s work.

Christina has worked in the areas of affordable housing and education administration for the past 15 years. She is also owner of Marqued Impressions Etiquette Training and is passionate about teaching business and personal etiquette to all ages. She has worked with clients inlcuding Bank of America, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, University of Houston, Houston ISD and many churches and civic organizations. She is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking and baking, theatre, mentoring youth, dining out, shopping, volunteering, traveling, writing poetry and watching football. Christina and her husband, Bryan, reside in Houston. Her life motto is Erma Bombeck’s quote, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me’.”
