Saturn Road Church of Christ
Amy Bacon is the author of the Mothering Like Mary Bible study that connects young mothers with more mature mothers who have parenting wisdom to share. Amy has been married to John Bacon since 1993, and they have four amazing creative children. The Bacon family has worshiped at Saturn Road Church of Christ since 1999 where they are involved in several ministries. Amy’s favorite Bible verse is Phil. 4:8, and she has drawn on it many times for clarity in difficult situations. For fun Amy enjoys reading, traveling, eating great food, and laughing with her friends. Her life motto is that “Life is a grand adventure”, and she intends to live it to the fullest on both sides of eternity.
Southwest Church of Christ
Tami Roberts is striving to be a shining light for the Lord. She and her husband Wayne travel around the country sharing their marriage seminar, “His Shoes, Her Shoes”. Tami also uses her “extra” time to speak at different women’s gatherings. She puts together the Spiritual Development Retreats for the Come Fill Your Cup website for women. Tami writes for several different websites. She and Wayne have raised five children and are enjoying seven grandchildren, with another one expected this year. They worship with the Southwest congregation in Oklahoma City where Wayne is the Outreach and Involvement minister.
I love to sing!! (Even with my old lady voice.)
I love people!! I love to hear their stories.
I love children! I’m most comfortable with them. (Probably because I’m just an older “kid”.)
I love seeing the lives of people “light up” when we share hope with them!
Crosstown Church of Christ
Michelle Clayton is a Women’s Ministry leader, teacher, and Elder’s wife at Crosstown Church of Christ, where she and her husband, Chris, have attended since they moved to Tulsa in 2008. Michelle has actively taught children’s and women’s classes for more than twenty years, cultivating a passion for teaching God’s word through personal experience. She attended Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver and holds an Associate’s Degree in Women’s Studies. In the secular world, Michelle is a retired certified administrative professional who continues to be active in the professional organization IAAP as a member of the Certification Advisory Board. Chris and Michelle met at a college Bible study, which led to several personal studies, Michelle’s late-night baptism, and marriage. They have now been married for 28 years, daily committing to grow together in the Lord. They have homeschooled and raised two beautiful daughters, have gained one good-natured, preaching son-in-law, and have been extremely blessed by two wonderfully precious granddaughters.
Graymere Church of Christ
I have lived my whole life in middle Tennessee. My husband is Wendell Robinson who retired in 2015 as Minister of Education from the Graymere Church of Christ after 32 years with the same congregation. We have three children and seven wonderful grandchildren, all of whom attend Graymere so I see them a lot!
As a minister’s wife, my life has always revolved around the church. I teach the Sunday morning and Wednesday morning ladies classes. I teach the Bible at the local jail as part of our jail ministry and participate in the benevolent program, our annual Give-Away Day, care groups, and visitation. I have spoken at Ladies Days and retreats and taught ladies classes during a mission trip to Panama. In January 2015 Gospel Advocate published my first book, “Unsung Heroes (And a Few Villains)”, fulfilling a long-held desire to publish a book for ladies classes. “More Unsung Heroes (And a Few More Villains) was published in January, 2017.”
Most of my time is spent studying for the classes I teach and attending my grandchildren’s assorted ballgames and activities. One grandchild or another plays basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and bowling! Wendell and I love antiques, especially my collection of 300 antique open salts. Like most women, I love to eat out and to shop!
Brookville Church of Christ
Big Run, PA 15715
My life as a Christian began after marrying my Navy husband, Robert Deet, in October of 1964. We moved to Newport, Rhode Island. We were reading the Bible every day and had a lot of questions that were not being answered to our satisfaction by the minister of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church where we had been attending since our early teen years. So when we got settled in Newport we started attending every denomination we could find until we found one that actually preached the truth – the CHURCH OF CHRIST. My husband and I were baptized in 1965 after studying with Gene Armstrong, the evangelist there.
We moved to Pennsylvania about January 1976 and our third child was born in October of that year. We had looked in the yellow pages for a church to attend here in Pennsylvania but could not find one so we did our best to worship at home. Later we learned that the Church of Christ in Dubois, and the Church in Brookville were listed in the WHITE pages. Anyway, while in the hospital maternity ward we met John and Dolores King who were also expecting their third child. We learned about the Brookville Church from them and began attending there.
My teaching experience began with the 2-4 year old class. And later I taught grade 4,5 and 6. I love teaching. As time progressed and our own kids all left the nest we decided to pursue a life time dream and try to work with troubled kids. We found the Church has many facilities for “house parents”. We could work with kids and get paid to do it so we quit our jobs and moved to Tennessee in April 1997. We worked in the south over a period of about 2 1/2 years. We decided that it was time to return home so we moved back in July 1999.
I have since retired from my job at the Punsxutawney Area Hospital and am attending Brookville Church of Christ along with my husband of 52 years. I am pleased to have the opportunity to teach ladies. I have done two lessons for our home congregation so far. I love the word and love sharing what I learn with my sisters in Christ.
