Serving God and my family has always been my priority. I was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years and only went back to teaching when my husband, Gary, had an opportunity to go to graduate school and our youngest was in second grade. I have taught mathematics at Abilene Christian School, Fort Worth Christian School, a public high school, and recently retired as assistant professor of mathematics at Tarrant County College. Besides my degrees in mathematics and English, I have done graduate work at ACU in Bible and counseling. When Gary was on the faculty of the Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, TX, I directed the wives’ program, teaching Life of Christ, Acts, and several other courses. I have spoken for several ladies’ days, retreats, and lectures including the Ft. Worth Lectures, Mid-Atlantic Retreat and Cold Harbor Road Lectures in Virginia, the Connecticut Women’s Retreat, Come Fill Your Cup Retreats in Denver and Oklahoma, and the European Christian Women’s Retreat in Spyer, Germany. I am the author of 2 books in a series, “The Drama of Redemption.” Book 1 is “Walking with Jesus from Creation to Canaan” and book 2 is “Walking with Jesus through the Prophets.” I’ve spoken on various Bible topics, so it is hard to pick a favorite. The unity and integrity of the Scriptures, fulfilled prophecy, and the nature of Jesus are topics I see as having a major impact on our lives in this “post-modern” culture, because we become like the God (or gods) we worship. I believe the Word is too precious and my time is too short to waste it on “fluffy” stuff. Since Gary is now the coordinator of the graduate studies with the Bear Valley School’s Extension Program, I have had the opportunity to teach women, children, and the lost in places like Ukraine, Tanzania, Paraguay, Peru, etc. We have been married 53 years and have 2 children.

Chara Watson is a Storyteller, adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma Christian University, and a stay-at-home-mom to four beautiful children. In 2003, at the urging of her wonderful new husband, Josh, Chara enrolled in East Tennessee State University’s graduate program for Storytelling, embracing her lifelong passion for stories, and connection. She graduated in 2005 and worked for a professional organization for Storytellers until she moved to Nashville, where she taught middle school. She now lives in Oklahoma City and teaches Oral Communications. Chara has been a Christian for 24 years and has spoken at various ladies’ days in New York, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kansas, and Oklahoma. She has also told stories and lectured at Lipscomb University and Freed-Hardeman University. She is one of four daughters of Phil and Jackie Sanders, wonderful parents who raised her in a Christian home.
I am hosting a Ladies Fellowship Cooking Class on August 30th from 10-12.
This is the start of my story of how I came to Christ. It will be a great event for ladies to come together in support of our Faith and love for Christ in this tough world.
